About this Surf Charter

Overview

Built specifically as a surf charter boat, Bohemian Baru is a 62' power catamaran, a brand-new boat just finished in August 2011.

Bohemian Baru is spacious, comfortable and very stable - catamarans don't roll from side to side like other boats so you can put a can of beer down on the table and it will stay there. This makes it very user-friendly, especially for people who are prone to sea-sickness.

In 2013 season, Bohemian Baru will run charters in Mentawai Islands, with charters to the Telos and Nias/Hinakos available upon request (extra fuel charges would apply). They also offer charter option from Padang to N. Sumatra, wherever you and your group are keen to go. Depending on charters already booked, they can begin charters in Padang and finish in Sibolga, or vice versa. The charters will give you a chance to surf from the Banyaks all the way down to the Mentawais on the same trip.

Bohemian Baru offers exclusive surf charters for groups of 8, 9 or 10 surfers and can easily take groups of 12 on request. This brand new power cat will take the Bohemian charter experience to an even higher level. It is equipped with the latest in navigation and safety equipment. Guests sleep in twin bunk cabins and there are 2 bathrooms down below and another in the cockpit to allow for easy access from on deck. The interior saloon is very spacious and the aft cockpit and forward deck offers plenty of room outside to relax in comfort.

Captain & Crew

Steve Bridge was born in England, raised in Australia, and has since spent his time between California, Indonesia and Australia. He has tremendous experience running 3 different Indonesian surf boat charters in the last 15 years. And two of those three, including the Bohemian, he built himself. His experience and local knowledge practically means you will always be in the right place at the right time for the best surf conditions. The skipper also has top-of-the-range digital photo equipment so at the end of the charter you can get CD photo album of your trip.

The chef and first mate Ann has been in charge of the galley for 4 years now. She continues the Bohemian tradition of great food and makes sure that meals are always something to look forward to, with plenty of delicious, healthy food. The tuna, mahi mahi or king mackerel that you caught that day will be on the table that night. They bring in all the western food you like for every trip and load up on prawns, squid, chicken and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables from the local markets. Good surf may be dependent on the conditions, but their team guarantees you delicious, healthy food day in and day out on Bohemian Baru. Be prepared to put on some weight.

Hey Josh, man it has been crazy since I have been back. The trip was great, Bohemian Baru is a sweet boat and the crew, surf guide and captain were unreal! surfing in boardies again is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. It sucks having to put a wettie back on. The swell started off pretty good about 3-4 foot for the first couple of days then went up and down then totally fired for treasures on the last day. Did a 5-hr sesh cos we didn't know if the conditions would change as they started off really ordinary. I even pulled into a few barrels on purpose which is good for me as I usually pull in accidentally on take off or down the line. I never dreamed that I would be surfing within a few meters of an island (Pinnacles). The boys reckoned I owned that spot as almost all of the photos were of me that day. Skateparks was probably the most fun relaxed session we had, we all stayed out until we couldn't see anymore. Mid trip when the swell jumped we surfed Bowa (think that is how you spell it) and Schoolyards. It was nuts! Had the best drop of the trip at Bowa and made it, the photos don't do it justice. Anyway cheers heaps for the trip and enjoy the shots Jess
