Overview

Haira is a top quality charter boat – only just built for the 2007 season. She requires a minimum of 8 passengers for an exclusive charter, and can accommodate up to 18, but prefers to charter with a maximum of 14.  She is very spacious with 3 levels of rooms & entertaining areas. There is a restaurant, bar & lounge – with a state-of-the-art entertainment system including large flat screen TV, DVD player, and connection for your Ipod. On the next level there is a funky disco bar with dance floor & open terrace/sunset deck. For those keen on soaking up the rays there are sun decks out the front on the second level and out on the roof.

Captain & Crew

At the head of 5 crew, you’ll find the licensed captain. He is ultimately in control of the safari. Haira’s captain has lots of experience boat chartering in the Maldives. He is supported by a second in charge, boat boys, and a full-time chef. One boat boy will be in charge of guest services and one will be a dinghy boy and in charge of anchoring. The crew are all local Maldivians so know the area extensively and you can be confident of their skills & expertise.

Knowledge is everything on a surf charter so an experienced surf guide is essential. Your surf guide on Haira is a qualified experienced western guide who will look after you on the boat and get you to your preferred choice of waves.

Accommodation

All cabins have separate personally controlled air conditioning units and portholes if you prefer the natural ocean breezes. They also boast spacious ensuites with shower & toilet and hot & cold running water. Fresh cotton linen & towels are provided, beds are made daily by your crew.

Wall sockets on the boat are English and Asian, so we recommend you to bring a travel adaptor with you. Internet access is available if you bring your own laptop. Phone connection is available all around the Maldives - you can buy a local SIM at the airport on arrival for cheap calls home.

Inclusions

On Haira, meals are all you can eat and are a mixture of Maldivian, Sri Lankan and western dishes. The chef is also willing to adjust the menu to suit individual needs if required. 

• Breakfast is tea, coffee, fruit, juice, toast and a mix of jams and omelettes of your choice.
• Lunch & dinner is a banquet of five different dishes with daily variations including fresh fish & tuna dishes, curries, rice and pasta dishes, vegetables and salads.
• Evening meals are followed by dessert and lunch is followed by a fruit dish. Tea and coffee is served after all meals.  A hand of bananas ripen on the deck.

Extra Costs:

• Alcohol is available for purchase. If you have any special requests, please let us know well in advance and we will do our best to organize your favourite brand.
• "All you can eat and drink" seafood & Champagne (Moët) buffet at Kandooma Resort on Wednesdays. The cost is about $110 per person.
• 30-foot surf & dive dhoni - minimum 2 weeks notice ($200 per day).
  
• Fuel surcharge applies for trips to Central Atolls.

The Haira is a sweet boat and Brian was a great surf guide, always obliging and well informed, as were all the Haira staff. We had some great waves and had an epic time, just wish the Maldives were closer to home! Next time I'd book flights earlier to avoid layovers in Male and Singapore, but other than that a perfect holiday!

Hey Perfect Wave, I just wanted to say a BIG thanks to everyone for organising the BEST surf trip ever in the Maldives. From the moment we stepped on to the awesome Haira the crew and Richee the surf tour guide provide myself and 7 mates 10 days of epic surf at Jails, Cokes, Sultans, Honky’s, Chickens along with great waves at Kandooma and Rip Tides. The PW crew did not miss a beat and were constantly watching the swell direction, winds and where the other boats were to ensure that we got the best waves at the right time. The trip provided me with my best, fastest and biggest face drop ever. I have come back an improved surfer which is not hard when you spend 6 to 7 hours in the water each day. All in all the waves, PW service and the Haira could not have been better. I would recommend it to anyone no matter what level of surfer. Look forward to next Perfect Wave surf experience next year. We were wrapped as the trip was an epic couple of weeks. Those phantom big swells never did quite hit but we had some cracking days and some decent 5' pulses so happy days!! Big ups to Martee. Awesome guide, loving the local knowledge, make sure you hang on to him!! Mentioned it to him at the time, but let him know that he is welcome at ours if he makes it to Melb's during his Ozzie sojourn later this year. The rest of the crew were fantastic, especially the chef…Gold.

From the moment I booked the holiday, your team made the entire experience thoroughly enjoyable with no stress and completely hassle free. The Haira boat was perfect with lots of space and a first class crew who non stopped looked after us with fantastic food, service and transfers to the surf breaks whenever required, those guys never stopped. Your advice re time of season for best waves was spot on and your surf guides put us in the barrel and on uncrowded waves regularly throughout the 10 days to make the trip absolutely insane. I've been surfing for 21 years now, all of my travels have been to Indonesia ranging from over land roughing it in the Metawia's to chattering loud old diesel fishing boats to explore the islands of north Sumatra and of course to party central, Bali! This was the 1st organized surf trip and easily the longest time I have ever booked a trip out (booked in November). I can honestly say it was one of the best things I have ever done! From the organization of the holiday to the icing on the cake "the waves!!!" it was perfect! For starters we had a really great bunch of lads which is always a good start and then the crew on the Haira, so laid back and helpful, this made the whole experience, which just so happened to be all revolved around what seemed to be endless amounts of swell ha! We woke to 3-4 feet on the 1st day, just a lazy 8hr session at Jails to kick the trip off. The next morning Honkies/Sultans was on fire! followed by 2 and 1/2 days of chickens/cokes ranging around 4-6 feet (jelly arms were starting to kick in), had a small but very fun break down at Kandumas before heading back up to Jails where things got real PERFECT 6 foot, mild off shore winds to hold up what felt like 300 meter rides at times, insane fun! I think I got to about 4 o’clock and was done, only to come in, crack a beer, watch my mates surf something I have never seen before perfect 6 footers blowing off shore ALL DAY there was no break in the conditions, completely surfed out and mind boggling to what we all just scored on our 10 day surf adventure in the Maldives, one of the most memorable surf trips to date. Until we meet again The Perfect Wave! Unbelievable service and experience was on tap the whole time, very, very satisfied and would recommend The Perfect Wave to anyone, actually I already have ha! G'day Guys, Sorry for the late reply but I've been super busy since I returned from the Maldives, unfortunately life back home doesn't move at the same relaxed pace! I thought it was worth writing in to let you know what an awesome experience I had. The trip was quite well organised from the start, all I had to do was grab my passport and pack my boards. The boat was unreal, the food was amazing and the waves were some of the best I've ever surfed. Worth a special mention was our guide Brian. He was friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Top bloke all round. Will definitely be coming back.

Just got back on Monday 22 Aug from the best surf trip I've ever had. The Haira rocks! The Maldives rocks! The swell was all time. Just overhead first day, building to double overhead mid trip and bigger on one day. I'm a low intermediate level surfer and was with some great surfers and there was something for all of us. The boat crew were fantastic as was our guide Ritchie. Lots of room on the boat too. Will definitely go back! Soon! All in all a rad trip. Scored some nice waves in the first few days & a crackin' last day at Jails. Would have loved to see it when it's really firing though. The Haira boat was amazing and Brian and all the crew were awesome and did everything required to make out trip as perfect as possible. It was seemless from our pick up at Male right to the drop off. Water was warm, plenty of waves, beer was cold and food was delicious! Can't ask for much more than that, so cheers guys...

Hello Rhonda We got back from our week in the Maldives last night. In short...the Maldives was the complete package and way beyond our expectations. The other guests on the 'Haira' were a top group of blokes and you couldn’t want for better 'play mates'. The Maldives is now to me a highly recommended destination for so many reasons. What occurs to me is..."If you are a gumby occasional longboard surfer whose idea of a surfing challenge is a gentle rolling friendly 2' swell at First Point, should you dare to dream that you could aspire to go on a surf charter to the Maldives and mix it with short board maniacs who want to shred and carve every massive wave in sight until they are in a state of exhaustion? Yes, yes and YES! Don’t dare to dream it....just do it." Watching a group of guys whose surfing skills match the qualities of the waves in the Maldives is an experience all in itself. We wisely played around the safe edges of their frantic pace and I personally paddled for hours and kms and kms each day on my Stand Up Board exploring the atolls and checking out the resorts, the lagoons and reefs....a beyond magical experience. Then to get back to the Haira and listen to the guys debrief their session was so much fun and very, very educational! Because David and I are not full time surfers, the absolute highlight of our trip was a few days spent wandering around Thuslusdoo and Male. Loz was a very, very hospitable guide and deserves BIG congratulations for having the PR skills to keep us all happy depending on if some wanted to keep on the same break, move to another, try fishing or go to Male for the day. It would be hard work I am sure but he did such a great job and it would be very challenging to be the host of such a weird mix of people (I mean us as the gummbies and all other passengers as serious surfers). I will send a few of the best of our photos later Rhonda...jet lag from yesterday is making my head porridge and our house is strangely rocking in the same rhythm as the 'Haira'.
